What are nootropics?
When I first heard the word "nootropics," the last thing I thought it would refer to was a cognitive enhancer. It sounded more like something you'd put into a spaceship than into your body. However, the more I came across the term, the more interested I became. Like many people, I found myself diving down a Google search rabbit hole. In just a few moments of reading, I discovered that nootropics are often dubbed "brain supplements." At first, I took this with a grain of salt. “Brain supplements? Come on. Who’s actually buying this stuff?”
But after a couple of hours of research, I found myself captivated by these so-called "supplements." They were anything but gimmicks; they represented the next evolution in nutritional support.
When you decide to create a supplement business in a market already flooded with products, you need a way to stand out. Walk into any GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, or supplement store, and you’ll see countless options. As the new kid on the block, how do you ensure you make an impact? You can’t rely solely on flashy labels and creative marketing. You need a product that truly lives up to its promises. While the initial sale to a new customer is exciting, what really matters is building monthly recurring revenue (MRR).
The key to achieving that is creating a product you can wholeheartedly stand behind and truly enjoy taking yourself. That's exactly what we set out to do at GTY Performance. We focused on formulating nootropics that not only enhance cognitive function but also support overall well-being. However, with dozens of specific nootropic substances available, we had to narrow it down to the three we felt were most important. Those ended up being Lion’s Mane, Panax ginseng, and Rhodiola rosea.
Lion’s Mane
Lion’s Mane is a mushroom named for its resemblance to a white, fluffy mane. It is believed to enhance cognitive function by improving memory through the stimulation of nerve growth factor (NGF) production. NGF plays a crucial role in the growth, maintenance, and survival of neurons, all of which are essential for memory and learning. Healthy neuronal function also significantly contributes to emotional regulation, which can help reduce anxiety and depression. I think we can all use a little bit of that.
Panax Ginseng
Panax ginseng, unlike Lion’s Mane, is a root known for its potential health benefits, particularly in enhancing physical performance. The root is classified as an adaptogen, meaning it helps the body adapt to stress and maintain overall balance. It is believed to enhance the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the primary energy carrier in cells. Increased ATP levels can improve energy availability, reduce fatigue, and enhance physical performance. By incorporating Panax ginseng into your routine, you may find it helps diminish the need for that extra caffeine pick-me-up in the afternoon, providing a natural boost to keep you energized throughout the day.
Rhodiola Rosea
Rhodiola rosea is similar to Panax ginseng in that it is both a root and an adaptogen. It is believed to improve concentration and memory, particularly during stressful situations, by increasing the availability of key neurotransmitters involved in memory and learning. Additionally, because it influences neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, Rhodiola rosea can also enhance mood. Like Panax ginseng, Rhodiola can increase the production of ATP, thereby improving energy levels and reducing mental fatigue.
These nootropics stood out to us because they complement the electrolyte formula we wanted to create. When you exercise frequently, it’s essential to stay hydrated and fueled for future workouts. But it doesn’t stop there. You need more than just hydration and fuel; you need focus, energy, and the ability to give your all to your physical performance while minimizing fatigue.
That’s why we created Hydranu—a new era of electrolytes. We have already experienced the benefits of this supplement in our daily routines, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact it brings to yours.
